What leather protection does
Leather looks tough, but it is porous, and left bare it soaks up oils, spills and grime over time. That is what dulls it and leads to the worn, darkened patches you see on the arms and headrests. A leather protection treatment adds a breathable barrier that:
- Resists spills and stains: liquids sit on the surface longer, so you have time to blot them before they soak in.
- Guards against body oils: the oils from skin and hair that break leather down are held off the surface.
- Slows fading and drying out: helps the leather keep its colour and stay supple rather than cracking.
- Makes cleaning easier: everyday marks wipe away more easily, so the lounge stays looking newer for longer.
The best time to protect your leather
Protection works best on leather that is new or freshly cleaned, before spills and oils have had a chance to build up.
The ideal times are:
- On a brand new lounge: protect it before the first spill, especially just after delivery.
- After a professional clean: if your leather has had a few years of use, we can clean it first and then protect it, so you are sealing clean leather, not grime.
